Apex Legends - Everything You Need to Know

Apex Legends is a battle royale, squad-based first-person shooter game that has taken the world by storm. While it is not quite as popular as Fortnite just yet, it is well on its way.

The game has created a niche for itself after Apex hit 50 million players worldwide earlier last year. In this game, 60 players are dropped onto the Apex Legends battleground, in which they will need to hunt down and loot ammunition, weapons, and other players.

There is a ring present that encompasses the map and continuously shrinks, forcing players to move closer to each other.

The final team remaining wins the game. Apex Legends is set 30 years after the events of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2 and takes place in an area known as the Outlands. Robots and humans are forced to battle with and against each other for victory in the Apex Games.

There are 20 squads in every game, with each squad consisting of 3 players. There are currently two maps in the game with more planned to be released in the future. Click here to learn even more about Apex Legends.

How to Get Skins for Free

There are plenty of skins for the various Legends in Apex - certainly too many to list. In addition, there are several ways to get these skins, some involving making real-life purchases, and others involving the resources that can be acquired in-game.

We’re going to take a look at some of the free methods to acquire skins for your Legends. Click here to view a list of all the skins available for each Legend.

Apex Coins and Crafting Metals

All skins for each of the Legends are available for purchase in the item shop, using Apex Coins. These coins can either be bought with your real-money in large sums for an instant bonus, or, they can be acquired simply by playing the game, earning XP, and leveling up.

The latter is obviously the free option, but will, of course, take you more time than if you were to simply purchase the coins using your real money. You also have the option of ‘crafting’ the skins yourself using Crafting Metals, which are earned when you open Apex Packs.

Below is a rarity list, which indicates how many crafting metals you will need to craft a skin of a particular rarity.

  • Legendary: 1200 Crafting Metals
  • Epic: 400 Crafting Metals
  • Rare: 60 Crafting Metals
  • Common: 30 Crafting Metals

Gaining XP

As we mentioned above, another way to unlock skins for free is by accumulating XP. Each time you level up, you will receive Legend Tokens which will allow you to unlock some of your favorite skins.

Winning a match will get you 500 XP, while finishing in the top three grant you 300 XP. A kill will get you 50 XP and each revive will be 25 XP. If you manage to kill the leader or champion, you will also win 500 XP.

Doing as many of these things in each match you play will ensure that you receive as much XP as possible, resulting in faster level-ups. The more you level up, the more Legend Coins you receive and the more skins you can unlock.
