Legend Tokens and Apex Coins - What are They?
Legend tokens are a kind of currency used to unlock new Legends when they become available or to purchase certain cosmetic items in the Rotating Shop, which is similar to Fortnite’s storefront. Each time you level up in-game, you’ll receive some Legend Tokens.
Once you reach the level cap, you will continue to earn coins by getting XP in matches that you play. New characters can be unlocked for 12 000 Legend Tokens each.
Apex Coins, on the other hand, is the currency that can only be bought using your real money but can be used in much the same way as Legend Tokens. You can use them to purchase Apex Packs, items in the Rotating Shop, and characters.

There is nothing more or less efficient that you can do in Apex Legends to earn Coins and Tokens than to just play the game. For example, every time you level up, you’ll receive some Legend Coins, which you can then use to purchase new items and characters.
Crafting materials, which are another kind of currency in the game, can only be acquired via Apex Packs, which are also granted each time you level up. The only requirement to leveling up is to accumulate plenty of XP, which is done by killing more enemies and surviving longer each match.
